When should i place my order with kitchen doula?

It's a great idea to book Kitchen Doula in advance or to encourage friends and family to purchase gift certificates so you can rest easy, knowing food will be on its way. Orders received by 12pm on Monday are eligible for delivery the same week. Orders placed after 12pm on Mondays will be scheduled for the following week.

How are meals packaged? 

At Kitchen Doula, we are deeply committed to environmental responsibility. All soups and stews arrive in BPA-free pouches that can be recycled. Do not put these pouches in the microwave, instead defrost in the fridge or in a bowl of warm water. 

How many do your meals feed? 

While appetites can vary and the concept of “meals” may be different when you are postpartum (soup when you’re up at midnight breastfeeding may sound like a really good idea…), one soup is generally a hearty meal for one or a light meal for two. Stews are usually enough for two adults, especially when accompanied by some of our buttermilk biscuits! 

Where do you deliver & How Much does it cost?

We make deliveries on Wednesday to San Francisco and the South Bay and on Thursdays in the East Bay and to Marin. We generally go as far south as San Jose, as far north as San Rafael, and as far East as Concord. If you are unsure if your location is within our delivery range, please send us an email at info@kitchendoula.com. There is a flat fee of $20 for all a la carte orders. For orders over $250 and ALL packages, delivery is FREE! 

What kinds of ingredients do you use ?

All meals are made from scratch, with the highest quality ingredients. We prioritize local, organic produce and exclusively use meat from small sustainable farms that are committed to humane treatment of animals. Our chicken and pork are always pasture-raised and our beef and lamb are grass-fed. You can read more about our sourcing here. We use very limited sugar avoid all packaged, processed foods. 

What if i have special dietary needs?

We have many vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options that are all marked as such on our menu. We do, however, share a commercial kitchen space and may use equipment that has been used for items containing these allergens. While we are unable to modify any of our dishes, we are always happy to consult with you as to which of our options fit with your dietary needs.
