Food For Healing The Body & Spirit

Healing your body, whether from an injury or illness, or your heart, after a loss or challenge, is a task that requires tremendous strength. Nourishing food is essential for building and maintaining that strength. Of course, it is also often a time when we physically or mentally cannot conceive of cooking for ourselves. This is where Kitchen Doula comes in. We have helped to nourish those who are undergoing cancer treatment, people who are post-operative, struggling with ongoing health issues, or recovering from an illness like Covid. Kitchen Doula is also a meaningful bereavement gift and we take seriously the importance of caring for those who are grieving.

Foods To Prioritize For Healing:

  • Healthy fats, like coconut oil/milk, olive oil, nuts, and butter are essential for brain and cell health 

  • Warming spices, such as turmeric, ginger, cardamom, and black pepper, which have  potent anti-inflammatory properties

  • Immunity boosters like vegetables high in Vitamin C (bell peppers, tomatoes, cruciferous veggies)

  • Easy to digest soups and stews

  • Protein and iron for rebuilding your blood and tissues
